A Public Hearing has been scheduled by the County of Chenango Industrial Development Agency for Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Town of Columbus Town Hall building with regard to Agro-Farma, Inc. (Company) facilities expansion project and to grant the Company financial assistance for the project.

Also, please be further advised that the Agency has scheduled a special meeting of its board to be held on December 8, 2011 at 8:00 a.m., at The Eaton Center, 19 Eaton Avenue, Norwich New York, for purposes of entertaining a motion whether or not to adopt a resolution agreeing to undertake the proposed project and whether or not to grant the requested financial assistance, in whole or in part, for the proposed project.

Columbus has 3 candidates running for the Supervisor position. They are George Coates, Tom Grace and Brandon Loomis. Coates was Supervisor 2006 – 2010. Coates and Loomis are both members of the Independence Party. Grace is an independent.

There are four candidates running for two positions on the Town Board : Daniel Avolio, an independent; Marsha Guzewich, a Democrat; Susan LaFever, a Republican; and Pamela Weidman, a Democrat. Weidman is the current Supervisor and LaFever was appointed to the Town Board to fill an unexpired term leaving her position as chairperson of the Planning Board.

There are three unincumbents: Justice Richard Fornito, a Republican, Town Clerk Brenda Weidman, a Democrat, and Highway Superintendent Kevin Cross, a Republican are running unopposed this election.
